Winners of the 2008 Connected Learning Awards were announced at a recent presentation ceremony held in the William Wilkins Gallery, Sydney. Awards were presented in six categories: Digital Story; Short Film; Digital Art; Web Design; Learning Resource and Greeting Card.
Teams from as far afield as Glen Innes High School (New England) Chillingham Public School (far North Coast) and Moama Public School (Riverina) were among 29 NSW government schools to receive awards.
Prior to the announcement of winners Verity Firth, the NSW Minister for Education and Training, addressed the audience of students, teachers, Principals, parents, sponsors, Departmental representatives and judges. The Minister heartily congratulated all winners and commended all the students whose hard work and dedication had contributed so much to the quality of the entries. She also congratulated the teachers and schools for their wonderful efforts on behalf of public school students.
The Minister also acknowledged the importance of partnerships with external organisations and thanked the industry sponsors for their generous support of students and teachers across NSW.
Following the Minister's address the audience listened with anticipation as Leslie Loble, Deputy Director-General, Strategic Planning and Regulation, announced the names of the winners. Michael Coutts-Trotter, the Director-General of Education and Training in NSW, then took great pleasure in presenting the winners with their awards.
